In the meantime, follow these steps to ensure a safe and effective loss experience:

  1. Safety First. If it's a car accident, get out of harms way. You shouldn't be standing on the road when you could be off the road. If you've suffered a water loss in your home, be wary of electrical hazards, and so on. Use good common sense to secure yourself and your loved ones. If you need to contact the authorities or special technicians (damage restoration, plumber, electrician, etc.) do so immediately.

  2. Document document document. From this point forward, everything you encounter should be documented. Invoices should be saved, phone conversations journaled, photos should be taken, and avoid destroying or discarding damaged items until the adjuster has confirmed that it's ok to do so.

  3. Find your contractor or body shop. Insurance compensates you for your loss, but doesn't necessarily swing the hammer to restore you to your original condition. It's up to you, the policyholder, to interview and hire certain specialists to repair or rebuild.

  4. Keep in close communication with our office and forward any and all information to us for safekeeping.
